Habitat: Small, scrubby specimens grow in dense groves on rocky hilltops, and large individuals in rich-soiled meadows and parkland

Traditional use: Acorns were gathered and consumed. A tea was also made from the bark

How to use: Acorns were steamed, roasted, or boiled to leach out the tannins

Teachings/Stories: Tea from the bark was said to be good for treating haemorrhaging
