I’ve gotten a little behind in my free inquiry activities, partially because of the rainy weather and partially because my other classes have gotten progressively more hectic. Since I haven’t made it to the skatepark much recently, I decided to look for some instructional skateboarding videos on YouTube to give me some strategies to try the next time I go skateboarding (hopefully sooner rather than later).

Both of these videos are from Transworld Skateboarding’s 2004 film Show Me The Way.  This video was made by the prominent skateboard company Transworld as a way for some of the household names in professional skateboarding to give advice and pointers on how to do a selection of tricks.

I figured I could never get enough practice on the most fundamental and essential trick, the Ollie. Here, professional Reese Forbes is giving advice on how to ollie higher and with more control.

I plan to practice my ollies nonstop the next time I jump on my skateboard. However, if I really want to challenge myself and make some progress, I can try to learn a frontside flip. That’s a kickflip where the board and your body also turn 180 degrees. Here, one of my favourite skaters, Andrew Reynolds is giving pointers on how he mastered this trick (he has arguably the best frontside flip in skateboarding).
