Free Inquiry: Some Progress at the Skatepark

The other day I had a decent session at the skatepark. I felt a lot more confident on my board and was able to relearn some old tricks I used to do when I was younger, namely the noseslide and the 50/50 grind. You’ll notice in this clip that I took a little fall trying to noseslide down the ledge at first.

I felt good about improving my ollie (based on the advice from the video in my last post) and it enabled me to get above the ledge and do 50/50 grinds again. This is exactly why the ollie is the most fundamental trick in skateboarding; you need to have a solid one in order to get onto any kind of obstacle.

The only downside to the day’s session was that later I tried to 50/50 another ledge in the park and ended up slipping out and landing awkwardly with straight-legs (no knee bend). This ended up pinching a nerve in my lower back and hurt like hell the next couple of days. I need to take it easy and avoid rushing myself with my skateboarding progress. It’s not worth the injuries!

  1. Dude! How did I not know your inquiry project was skateboarding! I gotta say, I never had a filmer that concerned with my well-being after a slam haha. Easy on the nosegrind, bud. I am seriously impressed and wish I still had a deck to come skate with you!

    • Haha thanks man! It’s fun getting back into it, but as of right now I’ve pinched my sciatic nerve (I think) for the second time since this post. Gonna have to take it easy on the skating for a while, or at least start stretching properly beforehand.
